I’ll get out of the way and leave the floor to Karen but before I do, I just had to tell you that Karen is a seriously rare find: aside from being utterly gorgeous with a fabulous sense of humour, Karen manages to not just make her cakes look divine but taste heavenly too. And take it from this wedding planner, that’s not always a given. Please don’t be mad Karen but here’s a confession: I’m just a bit ‘over’ cupcakes but even I couldn’t resist the world’s fluffiest cake and lightest ever buttercream icing at our tasting last week. Needless to say, Karen and her luscious cakes will be there to spoil you on Sunday and let you in on all things cake. Could you possibly need another reason to book your space?

The floor’s yours, Darling Caketress.

Karenanna – a bespoke cake company based in Bedfordshire, creating cakes that are admired and devoured.

My maiden name is Baker, yes I know Baker! I’m now a Dickson with two little Dickson’s to boot, one Dude and one Chick. My family are obviously the most important part of my life but cake does come a close second and is always in my thoughts.

With a background in Art and Design I always wanted to do something creative. After spending most of my childhood watching my grandma bake and being in awe of her creations, it only seemed fitting to become a cake designer. I absolutely love to bake and bringing my two passions together was like a lightening bolt. I wish I’d thought of it sooner!

I could not be happier. Wedding cakes have evolved so much in recent years and are a far cry from just the choice of round or square, fruit or sponge, with a coloured ribbon to match. Cake design is so much more than that.

I remember the consultation for our wedding cake, it was awful, I went in with a vision and came away so deflated and had ordered a cake that was not quite what I had in mind. I wanted to make visiting Karenanna a different experience. My cakes still contain real eggs and butter and no super power inducing ingredients, but your cake will be personal to you and designed with your vision in mind.

Some brides think I’m being nosy when I ask questions about their wedding plans like what the dress is like or the venue or flowers, but its all relevant to the design of the cake and I am genuinely interested and excited to hear all about it. Yes, it’s just a cake, but to me the cutting of the cake is the first official thing you get to do together as husband and wife. I absolutely love working along side the bride to create her ultimate vision and to exceed her expectations.

Recipes have been tried and super tested and a design style has emerged that’s contemporary, clean and pretty with a nod to the vintage, coupled with the firm belief that a cake should taste as amazing as it looks. I love my job and I strive to achieve a spectacular and bespoke cake to enhance your day that’s utterly delicious.

Will I see you on Sunday to tempt you with some cake?

Karen
